The following letter from the CEO of Virgin America is included for historical context and reflects an early effort to establish New Orleans as a hub. The revisions requested by the CEO to the terms originally proposed ultimately resulted in the transaction not proceeding. A subsequent opportunity was presented in 2013; however, Virgin America elected to pursue an initial public offering rather than advance the New Orleans hub initiative.
